Age Restrictions
Conch is an audio-first interactive adventure platform built for families, kids, teens, and creators. This page explains who can do what on Conch at each age — which accounts you can create, which adventures you can play and make, and the rules around payments and creator earnings.
This page summarizes our age rules. It works together with our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Community Guidelines. This is not legal advice.
1. Minimum Age
You must be at least 7 years old to use Conch. We do not allow sign-up below the age of 7.
Different features unlock at different ages, based on a combination of legal requirements and our own content rules. The rest of this page explains those differences.

3. How We Determine Age
We use an age gate: when you sign up, you tell us your birth year. By providing it, you confirm the information is accurate.
- Your birth year is set once and is used to determine which features are available to you.
- Misrepresenting your age, or circumventing the age gate or any age-based controls, is a violation of our Terms of Service.
4. Account Types
4.1 Ages 7–12 (child accounts)
Children aged 7–12 use a privacy-protected account:
- Sign-in uses a system-generated username and a password — we do not collect a real name, email address, or other personal information from the child.
- These accounts collect no personal information and use no behavioral tracking (see Section 8).
4.2 Ages 13 and over
Users aged 13 and over create a standard account with their own email address (or a supported sign-in provider).
5. Content Ratings
Every adventure on Conch carries a content rating. Ratings describe the content, not the user.
| Rating | Meaning | Who can play |
|---|---|---|
| E | Everyone — suitable for all ages | All users (7+) |
| T | Teen — darker themes, intense situations | Ages 13+ |
| AO | Adults Only — mature themes and language | Ages 18+ |
| Prohibited | Content that violates our rules (e.g. sexual exploitation of minors, hate, real-world violence) | Not permitted — cannot be published at any rating |
6. Playing Adventures
- Ages 7–12 can play E-rated adventures.
- Ages 13–17 can play E and T-rated adventures.
- Ages 18+ can play E, T, and AO-rated adventures.
Adventures you are not eligible to play are filtered out of listings (home, search, creator pages, and collections) and cannot be opened.
7. Creating & Publishing Adventures
You can create and publish adventures up to the rating allowed for your age:
- Ages 7–12 can create and publish E-rated adventures only.
- Ages 13–17 can create and publish E and T-rated adventures.
- Ages 18+ can create and publish adventures at any rating, including AO.
Safety for younger creators. Adventures created by users under 18 are constrained to their permitted rating, and all content is subject to automated content moderation before it can be published. For creators aged 7–12, we also display a notice recommending parental supervision during creation. These protections apply regardless of what a creator types into the creation tools.
8. Privacy & Data for Ages 7–12
We design the under-13 experience to collect no personal information, which is the foundation of our children's-privacy approach:
- No real name, email, or contact information is collected from a child.
- No behavioral tracking or profiling, and no advertising or marketing cookies. Only anonymous, non-identifying measurement is used, and never to build a profile of a child.
- No audio recordings or IP addresses are retained in a way tied to a child.
Because we collect no personal information from children during normal play, no separate verifiable parental consent step is required for that free experience. An adult is involved only at the point of payment (see Section 9). For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
9. Payments & Subscriptions
Only an adult (18 or older) can make a purchase or enter a paid agreement on Conch. This reflects the legal reality that minors cannot enter into binding contracts.
- Ages 7–12: cannot pay on their own. A parent or guardian completes the purchase, providing their own email and payment method at checkout.
- Ages 13–17: check out using their own account. On mobile, your device's family-purchase controls (for example, Apple Ask to Buy or Google Family Link) require a parent or guardian to approve the purchase. On the web, our Terms require that a parent or guardian has given permission for any purchase by a user under 18. A minor cannot be the legal party to a purchase — the parent or guardian is responsible.
- Ages 18+: may purchase directly.
Conch's paid subscriptions are processed by our payment provider; see our Terms of Service for full payment terms.
10. Creators: Support & Earnings
Some creator features involve Patreon, a third-party platform, which has its own age rules and processes all related payments. Conch is not a party to, and is not responsible for, the financial relationship between a creator and their supporters — see our Terms of Service for the full third-party and liability terms.
- Supporting a creator (paid): handled through Patreon. A user aged 13–17 may support a creator with a parent or guardian's permission, consistent with Patreon's rules; a child aged 7–12 may do so only through a parent or guardian's Patreon account.
- Earning money as a creator (monetization): you must be 18 or older. Receiving payouts means entering a financial and tax relationship that requires an adult, so Conch limits creator monetization to adults regardless of any lower age a third party may permit.
11. Parental Supervision & Controls
We encourage parents and guardians to be involved in their child's use of Conch. Parents and guardians may:
- Review and request deletion of any information associated with their child's account.
- Close their child's account at any time.
To make a request, contact us at info@conch.ing.
12. Changes to This Page
We may update these age requirements to reflect changes in the platform, our content rules, or legal requirements. Significant changes will be communicated to users. Continued use of Conch after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated requirements.
