Community Guidelines
Welcome to the Conch community. Conch is an audio-first interactive adventure platform built for families, kids, and creators of all ages. These guidelines help ensure that everyone can create and play adventures in a safe, welcoming, and imaginative environment.
By using Conch, you agree to follow these guidelines. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent bans.
Our Principles
Conch is a family-first platform. Most adventures are made for everyone, and our youngest players (ages 7+) only ever see content rated E (Everyone).
At the same time, Conch hosts adventures across three age ratings — E (Everyone), T (Teen, 13+), and AO (Adults Only, 18+) — and shows each adventure only to players old enough for it. Two things make this work, and both are on you as a creator:
- Rate honestly. Choose the rating that matches your adventure; our content checks will hold you to it. For an E adventure, the test is simple: "Would this be okay for a 7-year-old to hear?"
- Some content is never allowed — at any rating, including AO. See Section 3.
1. Be Respectful and Kind
- Treat all community members with courtesy and respect.
- Welcome new creators and players.
- Provide constructive, encouraging feedback on adventures.
- Embrace diverse perspectives, play styles, and creativity.
- Disagree respectfully, without personal attacks or insults.
2. Adventure Content Standards
These standards apply to every adventure, regardless of rating:
2.1 Rate Your Adventure Accurately
- Choose the rating that matches your content — E (Everyone), T (Teen, 13+), or AO (Adults Only, 18+). You may only create content up to the rating allowed for your own age.
- Players only see adventures appropriate for their age, so an honest rating keeps everyone's experience right. Mis-rating to reach a wider or younger audience is a violation.
- Use descriptive tags and honest descriptions so players and families can find the right adventures.
2.2 Violence
- Keep violence appropriate to your adventure's rating — light fantasy conflict for E; more intense or graphic combat is permitted at T and AO.
- Never depict violence against real, identifiable people, or sexualized violence.
- Gratuitous gore with no narrative purpose, or content designed purely to shock or disturb, is not permitted at any rating.
2.3 Language
- Match language to your rating: clean for E, mild profanity may appear at T, and stronger language is allowed at AO.
- Slurs and hate speech are never permitted, at any rating (see Section 3).
- Adventure titles, descriptions, and other public-facing text must stay appropriate for a general audience — anyone can see them in listings, regardless of the adventure's rating.
3. Prohibited Content
The following are never allowed on Conch — at any rating, including AO. Choosing an AO rating does not permit this content; it will be removed and may result in account action:
3.1 Harmful Content
- Hate Speech: Content promoting hatred, discrimination, or violence based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, or any other protected characteristic.
- Harassment and Bullying: Adventures or content targeting specific individuals with harmful intent.
- Self-Harm: Content promoting, glorifying, or providing instructions for self-harm or suicide.
- Real-World Violence: Content glorifying real-world violence, terrorism, or making threats against real people.
3.2 Adult Content
- Sexual Content Involving Minors: Any sexualization of a minor is strictly prohibited and will be reported to the appropriate authorities.
- Sexually Explicit Content: Pornographic or sexually explicit material, or content whose primary purpose is to arouse, is prohibited at every rating — including AO. (AO adventures may include mature themes and non-explicit romantic or sexual tension, but not explicit sexual content.)
- Substance Abuse: Content promoting or glorifying illegal drug use or substance misuse. (Alcohol or substances may appear in context at higher ratings, without glorification.)
3.3 Dangerous and Illegal Content
- Illegal Activities: Content promoting illegal activities, including but not limited to drug use, theft, fraud, or violence.
- Dangerous Instructions: Content providing instructions for activities that could cause physical harm.
- Gambling: Content simulating real-money gambling.
3.4 Deceptive Content
- Misinformation: Deliberately spreading false information that could cause harm, particularly regarding health, safety, or current events.
- Impersonation: Falsely claiming to be another person, brand, or organization.
- Spam and Scams: Unsolicited promotional content, phishing attempts, or fraudulent schemes embedded in adventures.
3.5 Privacy Violations
- Personal Information: Do not include real names, addresses, phone numbers, school names, or other identifying information about real people (including yourself) in adventures.
- Doxxing: Never expose or share another person's private information.
4. Intellectual Property
- Only upload content (text, images, audio) that you own or have the right to use.
- Do not copy entire adventures, storylines, or characters from other creators without permission.
- Give credit when drawing inspiration from others' work.
- Respect copyright, trademarks, and other intellectual property rights.
- Fan-created adventures based on existing media should be clearly labeled as fan works and must be original creative expressions, not copies.
5. AI Content Responsibility
- You are responsible for the adventures you design, even though the AI generates the real-time narrative.
- Design your adventure instructions, scene rules, and character behaviors to produce appropriate content.
- If your adventure's AI-generated content consistently produces inappropriate results, it may be removed.
- Test your adventures before publishing to check for unexpected AI behavior.
- Report AI-generated content that seems inappropriate or harmful through the bug report feature.
6. Fair Play
- Do not exploit bugs, glitches, or vulnerabilities. Report them instead.
- Do not use automated tools, bots, or scripts without permission.
- Do not manipulate adventure ratings, play counts, or reviews.
- Do not create duplicate or misleading adventures to game the discovery system.
- Respect the intended gameplay experience for other players.
7. Privacy and Safety
- Do not ask other users for personal information.
- Do not include mechanisms in adventures designed to collect personal data from players.
- Do not use adventures to direct users to external websites, especially those that collect data.
- Be especially careful about content targeted at or likely to be played by children.
8. Content Ratings and Labeling
- Give every adventure an accurate age rating — E (Everyone), T (Teen, 13+), or AO (Adults Only, 18+) — along with accurate genre tags.
- You may only create content up to the rating allowed for your age (see our Age Restrictions page).
- If your adventure contains intense themes (scary content, complex moral dilemmas), reflect that in both its rating and its description.
- Do not mislabel content to reach a wider or younger audience. Our automated checks classify content at publish time, and mis-rated adventures are corrected or removed.
9. Reporting Violations
Help us maintain a safe community:
- Report content or behavior that violates these guidelines using the bug report or in-app reporting features.
- Provide specific details when reporting (adventure name, what happened, why it violates guidelines).
- Do not abuse the reporting system with false or frivolous reports.
- Allow our moderation team time to review reports.
10. Enforcement
Depending on the severity and frequency of violations, we may take the following actions:
| Severity | Action |
|---|---|
| Minor, first-time | Warning with explanation |
| Minor, repeated | Content removal and formal warning |
| Moderate | Content removal and temporary account suspension |
| Severe | Immediate content removal and permanent account ban |
| Illegal | Content removal, permanent ban, and report to appropriate authorities |
Factors we consider:
- Severity of the violation.
- Whether the violation was intentional.
- History of previous violations.
- Impact on other users, especially children.
11. Appeals
If you believe a moderation action was made in error:
- Contact us at info@conch.ing with the subject line "Moderation Appeal."
- Include the specific content or action you are appealing.
- Explain why you believe the decision should be reconsidered.
- Appeals are reviewed within 7 business days.
- Decisions on appeals are final.
12. Best Practices for Creators
To build great adventures that families love:
- Write clear descriptions so players know what to expect.
- Test your adventures before publishing to catch issues.
- Use the full creator toolkit -- scenes, characters, items, and instructions -- to craft engaging experiences.
- Be original and creative -- bring your unique voice to the platform.
- Respond to feedback constructively and update your content.
- Use appropriate tags and difficulty ratings to help the right players find your work.
- Design inclusive adventures that welcome players of all backgrounds.
